Cup'O'Joe in hand, looking at a beautiful day on-tap for today, Partly Cloudy skies above, breaking to sunshine mid-day; as you drive up to the mountain, expect some ground fog and a few slick spots on the roads.
Bear Valley: Partly sunny, with a high near 38. South southwest wind around 6 mph.
Dodge Ridge: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.
China Peak: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Wind chill values as low as 20. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.
Mountain High: Sunny, with a high near 62. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
Snow conditions in Norcal: Firm to start out the day. Temps last night were hovering in the 30ºs with the wind chill into the high 20ºs - So the snow off-piste has firmed a bit. On-piste, the Mtn teams have dialed it in with the cold temps and light winds. The moisture in the snow is drying it out a bit, so it's firm but super "carve-delicious," and it will be softening throughout the day...
The forecast ahead:
Looking at the models this morning, I am not confident that the next round of precip will be impactful. NAM 3km and 12km models do not show that #MotherNature will quite slip as far south as Bear and Dodge; China Peak is out of play at this time. Tomorrow's runs will tighten up on the timing and impacts, but I do not see a 4" storm at our NorCal resorts. As for the long-term forecast ahead, we are in a holding pattern. I have added the ECMWF and GFS models for your review; we have a solid HP ridge building; however, we will see how long it remains in place and keep you updated here on the Corner daily.
