Buenos dìas, my friends
Cup'O'oe in hand, #StokeLevelSolid, winds howling, 45-65mph over the ridge-tops here at the #HippieHaus, regionally 25-35mph with gusts up into the 50mph zone by sunrise.
SNOW, in the forecast for the day, the system we have been tracking has gained a bit'o-strength over the past 24hrs and is set to creep on into the Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge zones mid-morning, making its way south towards China Peak mid-afternoon.
Temperatures are warm as I type; at the base of Bear Valley, we are looking at 36º, with a South (169º) winds; 11/26mph. Temps are forecasted to drop as the system moves inland, with snow levels starting out above pass levels (7k/8k) and slowly dropping into the 5k/6k zone.
Level set your expectations: this morning, for upper mountain access, winds may and can affect lift operations. Mtns teams will assess through the day as we watch the approaching round of #MaNatural work her way to our resorts.
NWS Snow total forecasts:
Bear Valley: 8–14 inches above 5,500 ft.
China Peak: 4–10 inches possible by Saturday morning.
Dodge Ridge: 3–7 inches above 5,500 ft.
Mountain High: 0"
Expect firm conditions to start the day at Bear, Dodge, and China Peak, softening as we work our way through the AM hours. As the storm settles in, the surfaces will change, becoming wet and possibly sticky, then as the temps drop, softening-up with a #FreshCoat of #MaNatural.
